Jean-Jacques KRAVETZ is an ancestor of the
German rock scene.
Kravetz was born in Paris in 1947. He studied from 1960 to 1965 at the
Paris Conservatory CNSMDP Alto Sax and Piano. During this time he
founded his first band.
In 1967 he moved to Hamburg.He became member of the bands THE CITY
PREACHERS with INGA RUMPF and UDO LINDENBERG. 1969 this band split in
FRUMPY one of the best German rock bands ever.
Above all, "Frumpy 2" has now achieved cult status. It was especially
Kravetz playing Hammond B3, the unique sound of FRUMPY coined. After
three studio and one live album Frumpy ended in 1973. Later Inga Rumpf
and J.J. Kravetz formed the band ATLANTIS. The members of ATLANTIS where
the crème de la crème of the German Rocks: Frank Diez, Curt Cress,
Dieter Born Schlegel, Alex Conti, KH Schott, Udo Lindenberg and Kravetz.
This album, "Jubilé - 40 years of rock music" is a reprint of the
musical life story of JJ Kravetz. All songs were recorded by the
original members of the old bands in a relaxed session in the summer of
2007. Seven are classics, plus three new songs together with his son
Pascal. |

Signed by Atlantic, their 1969 debut Banchee teamed the quartet
(singer/guitarist Peter Alongi, drummer Victor Digilio, rhythm guitarist
Jose Miguel de Jesus, and bassist Michael Marino) with producers Warren
Schatz and Stephen Schlaks. Like much late-1960s product the debut
displayed some psych influences (the leadoff, mid tempo number The
Night Is Calling has a distinctively trippy feel to it), but the
predominant sound was heavy, guitar-powered rock. With all four members
contributing material, original numbers such as Beautifully Day
(sic), the fuzz guitar-propelled Evolmia, I Just Don't Know
and the extended Tom's Island offered up a series of high energy
guitar powered rockers that were both tuneful and structural
interesting. That said, the album was surprisingly diverse. Train of
Life sounding like a post-Monkees Mike Nesmith after a week of heavy
speed usage, Hands of a Clock had a pseudo-jazzy feel, while the
Latin-tinged As Me Thinks recalled early-Santana. Overlooking
DiGillo's pompous back cover liner notes, it's a surprisingly enjoyable
and not particularly difficult to find debut ... (Original copies

O GFR foi uma banda de Flint, Michigan que surgiu no cenário americano
na década 70. Nesta época, lançaram um álbum ao vivo onde apareciam as
características do power trio bem fundadas no baixo que "enchia" o som
junto com a guitarra e bateria em vez de ser mero coadjuvante. Neste
álbum ao vivo vinha com uma foto da banda tocando no seu primeiro
grande evento, o Atlanta Pop de 70 embora o disco tivesse sido gravado em NYC e Chicago.
The 1971 Tour foi lançado em 2002 e contem parte dos
shows do Shea Stadium em NYC e Cobo Hall em Detroit com músicas mais
novas que o Live anterior como Gimme Shelter,
Footstompin Music e I'm
your captain/Closer to home. É o melhor álbum ao vivo da banda que estava no auge da forma em 1971 após 3 anos excursionando intensamente. |
